Before It's Gone" is the debut solo LP from Chicago-based musician and composer Taylor Wells. Recorded by engineer Don Bates at his studio in Nashville, Taylor found time between recording and touring with noise-rock power trio More Gorgeous to expound his homemade demos and explore a far more dynamic sonic landscape. Though entirely instrumental, the lush, intricate arrangements seem to detail clear thematic elements, especially one's desire to understand and appreciate the simple beauty of the natural world through the lens of an increasingly anxious, complicated society (as suggested by the cover art featuring Taylor's young nephew, Ollie). It's an apt metaphor when you consider the origin of "Before It's Gone," initially composed on a laptop with MIDI software but fully conceived here using strictly live instrumentation. The result is a sweeping, buoyant and enjoyable soundtrack suitable for any occasion (or emotion).
